A few weeks ago we visited the Tate Modern museum and saw different modern art. The museum had paintings, art installations, photographs, and various other items on display. Above is a picture of a painting by Salvador Dali entitled Metamorphosis of Narcissus. It is unmistakably Dali. It has the distorted confusing figures and muted colors.
I was excited to see a Piet Mondrian piece in the museum, in fact there were many. I loved seeing art by artists that I have studied in art history in real life. Some people argue that lines and color blocks do not make art but I disagree. There is something beautiful about the simplicity of the work and the use of primary colors. I think the people who don't view this as art are just bitter they didn't do it first.
Above are works done by Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, two greatly admired artists who had a very big impact on the art world. I really love Lichtenstein's work because of how different it is in comparison to other artist's work. I like his comic book style work and how the dots look like printed dots. I also just liked the quote at the top.
I remember learning about the hanging mobile in my art class in elementary school because we each had to make something similar to that for arts and crafts. Seeing it in real life all these years later was fun.
