New Designers 2015

This week our class went to an amazing exhibit called New Designers 2015. It was an exhibition that displayed the work of students who specializes in graphic design, furniture design, product design, and various other design fields.

Their work is so inspiring. I was especially drawn to the illustrators and my favorite pieces were those of prints, postcards, and collages.

This display was one of my favorites. I love collages so to see collages displayed as art work was very exciting to me. I love the use of different photographs and silhouettes that are put together to create one final work. I read the description and the artist said she collected and cut out images from vintage magazines and did both digital and hand collages. I think the use of the different colors creates a good contrast for each design.

My favorite piece that I saw is the one above in the top right hand corner. It is by Robyn Davina. The design is also used on her business card. I was attracted to the different colors that compliment each other as well as the illustrations of the people. It is captivating and intriguing. The quote is hand lettered and has a watercolor feel to it. It reads "It is remarkable that different people will have different thoughts when they look at the same thing." This resonated with me and I think that the overall design of the work is attractive and intriguing.
