Signage Abroad

This past week I did a walking tour of Brixton and it was so quirky and exciting. The town is so cute and full of color. It has its own personality because of the different hand painted signs and art that is on the streets. Many of the signs there caught my eye. Here are a few of them:

In the first sign I like how you are able to see the lines that show the measurements the artist used to create and paint the sign. There were many signs that said "Brixton" all around the city. I like the faded look of the sign. I also appreciate the fact that it was hand painted on the wall, it gives it a unique and local feel. I though the "Fruit & Veg" sign was interesting and fun. I like the light blue and gold colors used to create a pop out effect to the type.


The first sign is hand painted which is common for most of the signs in Brixton and the bottom is not. The first sign is advertising the food sold in the business, giving off a friendly inviting vibe. The second sign is of a cocktail bar so it has a more refined look, including the wooden background. The cocktail bar design was hip and urban, marketed toward a young audience.
