Wayfinding in the Louvre

10:23 PM

This weekend I travelled to Paris and visited the Louvre Museum. I decided to take photos of the wayfinding in the museum.

The signs were difficult to understand because they were in French. Although I understand a little bit of French, it was difficult to find out where certain works of art. The signs were off to the side and not as large as they should be. I think it would be beneficial if the signs were in multiple languages so that tourists can access the art more efficiently. Also, the letters on the sign above were fading so you could not understand what it said. The map pictured above was not very clear.

These large signs were hanging over the different entrances to different sections in the room.  They describe what is featured in that section. The arrows were helpful to navigate around. The picture below was not as helpful because it was not as specific as they could have been.

This sign was the most helpful one at the end of the day.

And heres a picture of the Mona Lisa.

  1. Thank you Melissa, for the pictures. I am wondering if I can use your pictures as references points for a way finding project I am doing. Thank you.
